كتاب مفتوح لفخامة الرئيس وحكومة الوحدة الوطنية

ترحب المنظمة الفلسطينية لحقوق الإنسان (حقوق) بتخطى مرحلة الفراغ الرئاسي في لبنان والذي تُوِّج في 25 أيار 2008 بانتخاب العماد ميشال سليمان، رئيساً للجمهورية، وما أعقب ذلك من جهود لكافة الأفرقاء، وعمل دؤوب من أجل تذليل العقبات التي أنتجت حكومة الوحدة الوطنية في 11 تموز 2008. كما وتنوه المنظمة، وبكثير من التقدير، ما أورده الرئيس في خطاب القسم حيث قال:

THE OBSERVATORY for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders

The Observatory has been informed by the Palestinian Human Rights Organisation (PHRO), an NGO operating in Lebanon, of death threats against its General Director, Mr. Ghassan Abdallah, and its Vice President, Mr. Edward Kattoura, as well as of threats against PHRO members in general.
According to the information received, since April 2008, Messrs. Abdallah and Kattoura have been receiving threats by individuals from Rachideh Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, in particular from Mr. Jamal Mahmoud Dandashli, a Palestinian refugee living in Rachideh Camp and responsible for a Military Unit in the Fateh Movement, in order to force them to cease working on a case which shows Mr. Dandashli’s involvement in a series of human rights violations.

Serious Challenge Reached Threatening Our Lives at the PHRO (Follow up Report)

This report was prepared as a matter of follow up and update to our previous report dated May 23rd, 2008 and titled “Executive Report: Serious Challenge Reached Threatening Our Lives at the PHRO - Your Urgent Action is Needed”. Within this present report, we aim at spotting the light on the developments that took place from May 24th to June 7th, 2008 with respect to the case(s) [Mr. Rabieh Rashed Hussien [RRH] kidnapping, Mr. Abdelaziz Tarakji [AT] received threats and Mrs. Nisreen Mahmoud Dandashli [NJD] protection] that are gradually following up since April 11th. The following report, in particular, will provide a summary on the progress related to:

1. the victims (Rabieh and Nisreen) and their statements

2. the threats that we received due to being following up these cases

3. The settlements (mechanism and conditions) that took place so far
